Stellarton Holiday Tree Lighting 2020

crest intro

STELLARTON, NOVA SCOTIA – Due to the restrictions surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the Holiday Tree Lighting will be held virtually for the 2020 year.

This difficult decision was made after a number of factors were considered: The nature of COVID-19 and the provincial restrictions surrounding the pandemic, the uncertainty surrounding new cases and the second wave, and the challenges ensuring safety for public events.

The lighting of the Christmas tree is a holiday tradition that we look forward to every year. It’s symbolic of the kickoff of the holiday season in Stellarton. It’s a special community celebration for many people. While we would love to celebrate our normal way, our top priority is the health and safety of our community.

We will be livestreaming the tree lighting on Friday, November 27, 2020, at approximately 5:00pm.

Please be advised that Santa will still be visiting the town on Christmas Eve with the help of the Stellarton Fire Department. The route travels directly into the neighbourhoods of residents, so individuals will be able to enjoy the visit from the comfort of their own homes. Those that intend on being outside for this event are reminded to follow the health and safety guidelines from the province: Physically distance yourselves by 6ft or 2m, limit gathering sizes, and always practice good hygiene like washing your hands and not touching your face.

Let’s all do our part to stay safe and healthy this holiday season!
