Davis Day 2020

crest intro

STELLARTON, NOVA SCOTIA – Given the uncertainty surrounding restrictions and limitations with COVID-19, Stellarton’s Davis Day ceremony to be held on June 11, 2020, will be cancelled.

This day represents the anniversary of William Davis’ death in 1925. A miner who tragically died during a protest aimed to gain access to water and electricity after the coal company had cut off these resources. Since then, William Davis Miner’s Memorial Day has evolved to become a day to remember all miners that have been killed in mining accidents.

Although there won’t be an in-person gathering to commemorate this important day, please keep those miners who have lost their lives in your thoughts.
