The Stellarton Christmas Tree Lighting is a family event with music from a local school, hot chocolate provide for free from The Lions Club, wagon rides, activities at our local Library and a visit from Santa!
Given the uncertainty surrounding restrictions and limitations with COVID-19, Stellarton’s Davis Day ceremony to be held on June 11, 2020, will be cancelled.
This day represents the anniversary of William Davis’ death in 1925. A miner who tragically died during a protest aimed to gain access to water and electricity after the coal company had cut off these resources. Since then, William Davis Miner’s Memorial Day has evolved to become a day to remember all miners that have been killed in mining accidents.
Although there won’t be an in-person gathering to commemorate this important day, please keep those miners who have lost their lives in your thoughts.
The Towns of New Glasgow & Stellarton will be hosting a Halloween Hike complete with pumpkin carving on the Albion and Samson Trails.
Participants will meet at Sobeys Head Office (123 North Foord Street) at 9:00am and will walk 2km out and back (4km total). Pumpkin carving will take place at Rotary Park before returning to Sobeys Head Office.
